  • Q1.What is “Taiwan Cinema Toolkit”?

    “Taiwan Cinema Toolkit” is a collection of Taiwanese films and documentaries provided a wealth of information and resources on Taiwanese cinema. Films from the Toolkit may be borrowed free of charge for use in non-profit screenings or educational events.

    Q2.Who can apply for the use of “Taiwan Cinema Toolkit” films?

    Groups or organizations belonging to any of the following categories may make use of Toolkit films at events with the cooperation of ROC Overseas Offices or the Taiwan Academy:


    1. Organizations or groups connected with audiovisual arts/culture


    2. Schools or other academic institutions


    3. Other groups or organizations that have obtained permission to borrow Toolkit films.

     

     


    To apply for the films of DCP & Blu-ray showcase, 2016, it is not necessary to hold screenings in cooperate with ROC Overseas Offices. As long as the screenings are for a non-profit event related to culture, arts, film, or education, you are eligible to borrow the 22 films of DCP & Blu-ray showcase, 2016. 

     

     

    Q3.How do I apply for the use of “Taiwan Cinema Toolkit” films and related materials?

    Simply fill out the application form online, we will send the film materials to you. You will only have to cover the return shipping fee.

     

     ‘‘Taiwan Cinema Toolkit’’ Logo should be displayed on the promotional materials of the screening event. After the event, the applicant needs to fill in the “Screening Report of Taiwan Cinema Toolkit” , providing information regarding media coverage and audience attendance, with at least 5 event photos) and send to toolkit@mail.tfi.org.tw within 10 business days.

    Q4.Are there any charges for borrowing films, posters, or photographs from Taiwan Cinema Toolkit?

    As long as you meet our criteria, everything is FREE to use!

    Q5.What is the 2016 DCP & Blu-Ray Showcase?

    In 2016, 22 more films were added to the list in high-quality DCP or Blu-ray format in order to reach a wider audience. All of the films can be provided free of charge for non-profit screenings organized by international cultural organizations. 

     

    To apply for the films of DCP & Blu-ray showcase, 2016, it is not necessary to cooperate with ROC Overseas Offices. As long as it is for a non-profit event related to culture, arts, film, or education, you are eligible to borrow 22 films of DCP & Blu-ray showcase, 2016.

    Q6.What are the requirements and restrictions of using the Taiwan Cinema Toolkit (TCT) films?

    1.  Each DVD is loaned with a clearly stated licensing rights expiry date and areas may not be screened in public by either borrower or lender. TCT DVDs may not be duplicated, distributed, altered, edited, publicly transmitted, or broadcast publicly on television. For commercial use, or requirement in other formats, applicants should contact the film’s rights holder.     2.  The shipment fees could partly be paid by TCT. The applicant has to return the films before the deadline by the shipment service marked on the application form.


    3.  Each DVD is loaned with a clearly stated licensing rights expiry date and areas may not be screened in public by either borrower or lender. For the requirements and restrictions information, please consult the TCT website.


    4.  To use TCT films or have any inquiries, please feel free to contact Taiwan Film Institute (TFI) by email 10 business days before the event, providing the name of the event, the organizers and co-organizers, the length of the license, the location of the screenings, the number of screenings, and the films to be screened.     Q7.I’m a festival programmer, would it be possible to view the film(s) first?

    As long as you have followed instruction of Q3 above, we will gladly assist you to get the materials of the film(s) you want. We may even provide you with an online pre-screening link.
